Wikipedia says, “According to 20th century folklore, the laws of aerodynamics prove that the bumble bee should be incapable of flight,”
So maybe the Bumble Buddhist is incapable of “flying” or realizing the Way. Another definition of Bumble is:
To move, act, or proceed clumsily.
This blog is the record of the journey of the last few years, of a student of Buddhism, spending lots of time in Asia, like a Bumble bee, flitting from flower to flower, seeking the “nectar” of the True Self. Like the Bumblebee, it should be incapable of flight, yet, it does fly.
In Zen, there are many images of this:
“When the wooden man begins to sing, the stone maiden gets up to dance”.
A collection of Zen stories is called “The Iron Flute”, it cannot make a sound, and yet…”
This site is also a way to express, not simply the usual Zen and Buddhist ideas and feelings, but also a chance to rant and vent about the injustice, vanity and absurdity of modern life, as it relates to politics, economics and social dysfunction.
These may seem like two different topics, but since I find them inseparable, it’s all on one blog.
